Donna and I attended the 2003 National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY. This is the largest gathering of Southern Gospel groups and fans in the world each year. This year's event was held September 8-13 in Louisville at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center. Each night features a 6 hour concert in Freedom Hall where the top Southern Gospel groups perform mini-concerts one after the other. During the day, there are showcases (one hour special concerts) available by various groups of artists. Donna and I attended the Roger Bennett Pianorama featuring some of the top pianists in SG music. We also attended the Crossroads Showcase featuring Phil Cross, the Talley Trio, Mark Bishop and Amy Lambert as well as an ensemble performing several of Phil Cross's new SG church music arrangements. Then we attended the Tim Lovelace Jam Session featuring some of the top musicians in SG music today. Here are a few of our pictures from the 2003 NQC. (scroll down) |
